The Nazarene Youth Conference (NYC) is a worldwide gathering that has been bringing together Nazarene youth from across the globe for decades. Held every few years, NYC invites students to step away from the familiar and into a shared experience of worship, learning, community, and spiritual growth together.

For many students, NYC becomes a defining moment—where lifelong friendships are formed, faith is strengthened, and young people experience what it means to be part of something much bigger than themselves, while still representing their home state and culture.

It was a true honor to serve as one of the designers for the State of Alaska’s youth, contributing apparel and sticker designs for such a meaningful, global event. Designing for NYC meant creating visuals that not only represented Alaska well, but also reflected the strength, individuality, and faith of the students attending on behalf of our state.

Details

The designs were intentionally created to reflect Alaska’s ruggedness, diversity, and quiet intelligence—strong without being loud, bold without being overcomplicated.

The moose head was used as the central symbol to represent Alaska’s strength, resilience, and state identity. A rugged, distressed texture reflects the toughness of the landscape, paired with a bold black palette for versatility. “NYC” is integrated through typography and negative space, with the elongated “Y” forming the snout.

A subtle secondary “Alaska” mark in matching texture keeps the design cohesive and grounded.

A moose set against the Northern Lights reflects Wonder, this year’s NYC theme, symbolizing faith and the awe of God’s creation. Textured, diverse colors are balanced with a simple form to maintain clarity and durability. “Alaska” is integrated into the moose with “26” included to mark the conference year. The sticker was designed to feel bold, meaningful, and collectible long after the event.

Purpose Behind the Work
These designs were created to give Alaska’s youth something they could wear and carry with pride and identity—a visual reminder of where they come from, who they represent, and the faith that connects them to students around the world.
